How To Use Pigeon Traps

It is no secret that pigeons have earned the title of "flying rats." Though they may not cause the same sentiment, they can still cause damage and disease. One of the ways to get rid of these flying rats is to use pigeon traps. The problem is that setting up the traps is not enough to catch them. You also have to know how to use them. That means location and bait. Of course the best thing that you can do is prevention and that means not having food and water in your property for the birds.

Most of the pigeon traps are non-lethal; they will attract the pigeons in by using bait, and then trap the birds inside. You can then choose to release the pigeons somewhere away from your home. While releasing them far is not a guarantee that they will not return, if you do a few adjustments to your home you'll increase the likelihood. You should start using grains as bait, and although you should have some of the bait just outside the trap you should still make sure that most is inside. The objective of that is to get the pigeons in the trap. If you leave a lot of the bait outside, then they may have no reason to come in. There are also traps on the market that will allow more than one bird to push its way inside. Check with your local garden supply store and you should be able to find where to get these.
